I'm an EMT with the BVFD, PG County station 39. I got into rescue work after 9/11/01 and I have never once regretted it. It makes me happy to be able to help people on what is most likely the worst day of their lives. I'm a Criminal Justice major for the same reason. I'd like to do womething with kids, something that will let me try to make a difference in the lives of kids who don't have anyone else to try. I'm also studying Foreign Languages, specifically Spanish and Italian, though I've taken lots of French as well as some Russian and Esperanto, and Communications. Kind of a triple major, but there's a lot that interests me and it all ties together in my head. Which can be a rather scary place to be! My other love is Forensics, and not just the tv version. Ballistics, Questioned Documents, Computer Crime, all of it. I like puzzles. I think that I could tie my rescue work with Criminal Justice and Forensics by going into arson investigation, but I would also love to be a mounted officer, or work with a canine unit. I also want to get my paramedic certification, and my sign lauguage interpreting certification. With both of those I could work for the DC fire department in the station that covers the Gallaudet campus. Or something. So many ideas... At the moment, though, I work for a private ambulance company with all the chaos and hell that ensues. I have a tuxedo kitten named Magic, who is my angel and the light of my life. Every day she makes me laugh, which I tend to not do enough of. I also recently adopted 2 puppies, a 22-month-old white Italian Greyhound named Sicily, who has the most beautiful grey eyes, and 2-year-old Lady Sadie, a German shorthaired Pointer who survived Hurricane Katrina. They are the sweetest puppies I've ever met. Both were born deaf. The only difference is that I talk to them with my hands instead of my voice, and when they fall asleep they like to be touching me so they know if I move. That just means more cuddles :) I love to read, especially murder mysteries. Mary and Carol Higgins Clark, Janet Evanovich, and Tom Clancy are some of my favorites, especially Tom Clancy's Net Force series. I also adore science fiction and fantasy. I write it too, and I'm a damn good editor. I'm also a jewelry designer, and am working on getting my business going. I need a financial backer ;) Let's see, what else is there about me? The interests list doesn't cover nearly everything. I am pagan. I have two tattoos, a Celtic triquetra with a star on my shoulder and a Chinese fire sign on my wrist. I've got more tattoos in the planning stages. I'm a closet goth and completely addicted to perfumes from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. I love all animals and tend to try to rescue everything, including worms when it rains, and I tend to have massive guilt trips when I don't succeed. My totem animal is the wolf, but there are others I work with too, tigers, horses, squirrels, butterflies, hawks. I live in a townhouse in Bowie. My car is a 2005 blue Saturn Vue that I just love to death. I finally got my license 20 months ago and it makes life so much easier. Between using public transportation and running accident scenes for so long, it made me very aware of how very much a privelege driving is. I got my license at 24 and I don't intend to lose it doing something dumb. I love to try to cook, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not but it's usually just a hassle to cook for just me. I make mean sticky buns though :) I'm really good with baking. I also love music. I'm a country girl at heart but I will try anything once. You name it it's probably in my collection somewhere. As a rhythm tap dancer, percussion and rhythm have always been important to me. Music is a huge part of my life, always has been and always will be. I love to sing and dance and would still love to do it professionally. I allowed myself to be forced out of that world because I didn't have the perfect body. It's taken a long time but I'm finally getting to the point that I like myself, curves and all. Starting to learn how to surf this year and surprising myself by being really good at it helped that a LOT. Can't wait for Ocean City to be warm again :) I watch too much TV, I readily admit this, but hey, it's good distraction from my life. Favorites include all the CSIs but especially Miami, Bones, NCIS, Medium, Strong Medicine, Rescue Me, Third Watch, Medical Investigation, LAX, Tru Calling, Commander in Chief, Veronica Mars, Saved, Grey's Anatomy, Numb3rs, Close to Home, JAG, Threshold, etc etc yes I know some of those were canceled but I still like them. I watch a lot of the Disney Channel too. Because, hi, I'm five. Halloweentown and the Zenon movies, the Cheetah Girls and Twitches, High School Musical and Jump In. Remember, I'm a dancer. Center Stage, Bring It On, Happy Feet. I also worry too much, I get told that almost every day but it still happens. Growing up wasn't easy and there are a lot of things that I still have to deal with every minute. I don't always have support when I need it, but I try very hard not to piss them off too much. I have been diagnosed ADD and bipolar II with anxiety and some random learning disabilities thrown in to make things interesting. And yet somehow I'm still here. I think one of the biggest things that makes me me is that I am loyal beyond any amount of belief. I would give my life in a heartbeat for my girls and almost did last year. Made me think about what I'm doing on this planet, that's for sure. I'm a protector. I also still very much believe in magic, not just the magick that I find in my pagan path, but the magic that is the idea of Santa Claus and fantasy, and that sometimes, dreams really do come true. I'm hoping this year I can find the holiday magic that I counted on as a child. I've gotten into graphic design more lately, and apparently others think I'm decent judging by some of the contest wins I've had. My banners are listed below.
